FimH-based display of functional eukaryotic proteins on bacteria surfaces

In this report the scientific team from Center for Molecular Medicine Cologne (CMMC) present a novel FimH-based, IPTG-inducible expression system to display fully functional eukaryotic proteins on bacterial outer membranes. EGFR ligand (HRV3C) fusion proteins could be easily harvested from cell culture supernatants after proteolitic cleavage. In addition, tumor infiltration of GLuc-FimH bacteria could be tracked in vivo using the PhotonIMAGERTM RT.
