Micro Imager - Operating principle

The beta particle emitted by the sample (1) produces a light spot in the scintillator sheet placed on top of the sample.

This light enters the intensifier tube (5) and is amplified by the double microchannel plate of the tube.

Each light spot is measured by the CCD chip (7), individually counted or rejected.

The actual center of the light spot is calculated to obtain maximum precision on the incident Beta particle position when entering the detector. This ensures very high resolution.

The counted Beta particles are accumulated in real time into the autoradiographic image displayed on the PC screen.
